Pre Op.......

Well another early start the boys woke at 5am AGAIN.....
Which to be fair was a good thing as we had lots to sort before heading over to the hospital for 8:45am.  Tina & Charlie arrived just to say Hi and catch up on the day’s events – we then got all our bit’s sorted for the day as we had a few appointments all over the hospital.
We arrived at floor 4 (we are slowly getting our bearings now) and checked in, in walked Evan and his family, I have also been speaking to his mum over the last couple of weeks, again it was lovely to meet face to face, there are so many UK families out here – we are lucky to have each other here for support as we are so far away from home.

Deanna came out and called us in for Ben’s physio assessment, Ben was AMAZING he did exactly what was asked of him and even did a few things we did not know he could do!  We are so proud of him he is really trying to do everything with his usual smile and giving it his all.  The fact that he was being filmed by 2 cameras and I had the camera did not faze him at all – I think he really enjoys it in a strange way.  We also then met Erica who will be one of Ben’s PT after surgery, the hit it off as well.  The staff here are fantastic really make you feel that you are in safe hands and really talk & listen to Ben which he really response to.
As we did not have any appointments till 1pm we went to investigate the sibling playroom where Jacob will be spending some time tomorrow so Damian & I can spend time with Ben after surgery.  Then we went for a spot of lunch.  Ben had his x-ray appointment at 1pm so a spot of filming before and then down the long corridor to the department.  It was all very smooth – unlike the time we have been to x-ray at our local hospital in and out in about 15 minutes! Ben came out with a nice cross on his back. X marks the spot!!!!
Then we were done off back to the apartment to chill for a while – after 2pm we had to call the same day nurse to check on Ben op time and nil by mouth instruction.  All sorted we then had a bit more filming before tea bath and bed.
Ben has been a little tearful today, but we are so very proud of how well he is coping with all of this we are lucky to have such a brave boy, who we love so much.
Well that it!!The 'day' is nearly here, tomorrow will be a big day for all of us and especially Ben – I will try to keep you all updated as much as we can.
Once again thank you to you all for getting Ben here....
