First PT after second surgery....

Well again we had a bump night; I suppose that was to be expected as Ben has just had surgery.  We were so thrilled to be home it didn’t really matter.
Ben woke at 7am, I had thought he might have a lie in after yesterday but NO!!.
I was worried as Ben was not wearing is knee immobilizers very much before the operation and now he manages about 2 hours on his right and not at all on his left, I think I will ask the professionals today.
So we made our usual journey cross to the hospital, to be honest I did not hold out much hope for today as Ben seemed so weak and in pain every time we moved him.  Michael greeted us in his usual full of beans way, and it was off to our area to start working.  Damo took Jacob off again as we have worked out that Ben works better if there is only one of us during the session and if we just stand back and do not interact to mush, just let them do their thing – so to speak.

Ben was amazing, I really need to find a new word, but seriously I never thought he would do half as much as he did today.  In Michael’s words he was impressed not surprised well I was both Ben has such drive and determination it overwhelms me at times.  Michael was on his count down for his big trip to the UK and he was getting so excited – we have managed to squeeze in Ben’s last every PT session with Michael a nice way to finish I feel.  He always finds something to make Ben not just laugh but get hysterical today it was the zoom ball but Michael made it wet, Yes he got soaked.

Michael worked Ben really hard for the whole session and you could tell by the end he was worn out, we had to call back at 1pm to see Laura as Ben’s splints were ready, and we wanted to borrow a chair to help with Ben’s exercises over the weekend as all our chairs in the apartment were too high or too low.

Check out his new kit!!!
 He will start with these,
This one his for night, left side only.

Then these after 6/8 weeks
Then eventually these!!!! MAD

By the time we had finished at the hospital it was nearly 2pm, Damian decided we should go back to the zoo to see the reptiles & the Bears.  So 10 layers later we were ready to go out in the freezing cold.  It was so quiet we only saw about 10 people in the whole place, I’m not surprised as it was so cold.  The boys managed 2 hours, granted alot of the things we saw were inside to we did keep out of the cold for a large part of the afternoon.  We finished off by watching Ernie & Bert the grizzly bears have their tea.  Not something you get to see every day.  Then it was home for tea and to get warmed up.
Here’s hoping for a quiet night!!!
