Waiting For The Storm....

After watching the news till late last night – we woke to who knows what weather conditions!!!!!

As we woke to Ben’s usual call ‘Mummy can you come and take my night gait off, please’ due to not having my lenses in I told him to try & go back to sleep – his reply ‘but its 8:30am’!!  Ooopss.  I took off his night git & splint and left the room.  5 minutes later Ben appeared at our bedroom door, I had completely forgotten to help him out of bed & for some reason both is wheelchair & walker were in our room. So not only had he got out of bed he had walked holding the walls from his room to ours – Well Done Ben xx
So we got up – Jacob rushed into the kitchen to look out of the window.  We saw lots of sleet & slush on roads & sidewalks but not as much as we thought.  The phone rang, it was James Lee asking us if we were still planning on going to PT, we said yes as we only had to walk across the road.  Erica was not in today so he had to find another PT to do his session.  So we put the news on and watched for the weather updates.  At 10:30am we got all togged up to set off cross the road, just then the phone rang it was James to confirm he had found a PT for Ben.
Well to say we were only outside for 5 minutes it was FREEZING, the trees were amazing all the branches were cover with a layer of ice –I’ve never seen that before.  The road was covered with a sleet/ice/slush mix and it was hard to push the wheelchair – luckily we only had to cross the road then we headed into the car park build to get into the lift to the hospital.
We all went today as this may be the only opportunity to get out today.  Damian too Ben in & Jacob & I went to do a few jobs, there is a Starbucks just around the corner from the hospital so I needed to pay it a visit.  But as we walked around the corner we noticed it was closed.  This weather I would not have said would have made the city grinned to a halt but it seem to have done so!!
So coffee & chocolate milk back in the hospital it was (not a nice as a Starbuck though).  We bumped into Abby back in the hospital so we had a quick chat & then we went to meet Ben & Damo.
Well I did not expect to see him laying on a red cart whizzing down the corridor but that is exactly what was greeting us.  Ben was laughing his head off as Beth pushed him round the corner.

Damo filled us in on his progress today and Beth agreed he had done really really well, just as we have grown to expect from him.  He is gain more confidence now & is trying to balance more on his own.
It was lunch time so we thought we would walk to a diner 2 blocks away.  But it was closed, by now both boys & I were freezing & starving luckily Einstein’s Bagels was open so in we went.
After lunch it was a very quick walk back to the apartment, before the storm set in.  During the day we had a little over 3 inches of sleet/hail – we watched the ploughs go up & down the street, cars getting stuck and people falling over, what better way to spend a day.
We kept a eye on the weather throughout the day :( no looking good!!!
Well they have forecast 6 – 10 inches of snow over night, so who knows what we will wake up to and more importantly if we will be able to fly home Friday!!!!

Charlotte xx
